TWO NFL COACHES FIRED, ONE RETIRES ON NFL 'BLACK MONDAY'

Two NFL coaches were fired and one retired yesterday (January 1st) on "Black Monday," the NFL's traditional biggest day for firings that comes after the last Sunday of the regular season. Jim Caldwell of the Detroit Lions and John Fox of the Chicago Bears were fired, and Bruce Arians of the Arizona Cardinals announced his retirement, a widely expected move as he's been dealing with health problems. Two other teams didn't even want until Monday to get rid of their coaches, firing Jack Del Rio of the Oakland Raiders and Chuck Pagano of the Indianapolis Colts after their games on Sunday.
