An old guy named Hendrik Ball has a YouTube channel where he shows off the strange stuff he's collected over the years. And his latest video features a bunch of toy guns. But one of them isn't actually a gun . . . it's a SEX TOY that's SHAPED like a gun. And he has NO IDEA. lol He even shows how the barrel can either spin clockwise or counter-clockwise. And the whole time he has it turned on, you can hear it vibrating. Someone on YouTube pointed out the obvious, but it looks like Hendrik still doesn't believe it.
He responded by explaining that he bought the gun at a regular toy store in the 80's, and that, quote, "Sometimes a banana is just a banana."
69 years ago today on June 6th, 1944, Operation Neptune took place at Normandy Beach, far more commonly known today as D-Day. American, British, Canadian and Australian forces combined to make it the largest amphibious invasion in world history. It's success meant a more rapid end to the war. If it had failed, well...things would likely be very different now for you and me.
Just prior to the invasion, General Eisenhower transmitted a now-historic message to all members of the Allied Expeditionary Force. It read, in part, "You are about to embark upon the great crusade, toward which we have striven these many months." In his pocket was a statement, never used, to be read out in case the invasion failed. It did not.
It's my sincerest hope that we never forget these things. It was only 69 years ago, but already the memory seems to have dimmed for far too many of us.
